    RESPONSIBILITY

    Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the health and safety department. Ensure that employees follow health and safety regulations and supervise operations to promote the safety and well-being of our employees. To include supporting HR and other assigned administrative duties.

    DUTIES

    Essential Functions

    ? Conduct safety walk-through daily to ensure the removal of workplace hazards

    ? Support Production Team in meeting their goals in a safe manner

    ? Maintain safety documentation with regards to government compliance and company policy

    ? Review annually all safety-related programs to ensure compliance

    ? Prepare all safety meeting agendas and conduct all safety-related training or other meetings for to Forklift Operators, Drivers, Production Associates, General Safety, and the Safety Committee

    ? Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards from a workplace

    ? Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures

    ? Maintain accurate and up-to-date training board postings throughout the facility

    ? Advise the company?s administrative team on safety issues and compliance for spec

    ific projects and operations

    ? Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations

    ? Maintain accurate and current records for all safety-related training and other safety-related documentation in accordance with guidelines

    ? Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies and institute changes that lead to a safer environment

    ? Manage the ordering of safety supplies, including: PPE, equipment, tools, etc.

    ? Assist management as needed with inventory and trailer count sheets

    ? Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and processing along with terminations

    ? Follow written and verbal instructions

    Physical Demands:

  • Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift (Ashland, VA)
  • BC Wood Products is the largest industrial manufacturer of custom wooden pallets and crates in Virginia. We lead the market in providing customizable solutions to our customers needs. Our equipment and personnel are constantly evolving and developing safe and efficient procedures to surpass customers expectations in both price and quality. BC Wood Products is looking for our next maintenance technician. The Ideal candidate would be passionate and experienced in maintaining a variety of equipment and assets used in the manufacture of wooden pallets. The candidate should be able to read and understand schematics, using them for troubleshooting, repairing, and assembling both mechanical and electrical components.

    Pay Range: $32 - $36 per hour [+ $1.50/hour 2nd/3rd shift differential]

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs mechanical and electrical repair of all machinery and production equipment safely without posing a danger to self or others
      • Follow verbal and posted safety rules at all time, including wearing the proper PPE for each task
      • Follow scheduled Preventative maintenance procedures
    • Installation of new/used operational equipment as needed
    • Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment and facilities as required
    • Monitor the implementation of OSHA safety regulations and standards, ensuring a safe, neat, and clean workspace
    • Help maintain upkeep of shop/office as needed
    • Able to use software to manage requests for maintenance

    Physical Demands:

    • Constant (5-10 hrs/day): Walking, Kneeling, Standing, Bending, Stooping, Talking, Hearing, Reaching
    • Frequent (2-6 hrs/day): Lifting & Moving, Carrying, Pushing or Pulling Objects
    • Lifts 50 lbs or more repeatedly throughout 10-hour workdays

    Must Haves:

    • At least 3+ years of Electrical or Mechanical background for troubleshooting and fixing machinery
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Maintenance Management Software knowledge
    • Read and interrupt instructions for ordering parts as needed
    • Positive and Curious mindset, able to drill down to the root cause of an issue and solve the problem with little guidance.

    Like to have:

    • 8 years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience
    • 3 years of welding Experience
    • 3 years of industrial electric experience

    Education:

    Combination of relevant Education or work experience, including at least 3 years of work experience.
